That history still shows up in odd places. Older solar advice written for Eagle Mountain's city utility no longer applies, and parts of the city code written before the sale still mention a net metering agreement with the city. Today the utility side runs through Rocky Mountain Power: your new or expanded system goes on its net billing schedule, exports earn 4.855¢ per kWh in summer and 4.033¢ in winter, and approved batteries can qualify for Wattsmart. The city's checklist asks whether your roof has rafters or engineered trusses and what covers it, and our layouts keep panels back from roof edges and ridges where uplift is strongest, while leaving the fire access paths the city requires. What the City's Solar Checklist Asks For
Eagle Mountain takes solar permits electronically and won't accept an incomplete application. Its residential solar checklist has eight parts.

Owner, subdivision and lot number, contractor license number, email and project valuation.

Roof setbacks with fire access pathways, hips, valleys and ridges, plus the home's setbacks on the lot.

Main meter, arrays, electrical panels, inverters, pass-through boxes and the AC disconnect.
One-line diagram
System type, disconnect and inverter ratings, exact module layout, wiring, grounding and labels.
Equipment sheets
Modules, inverters and combiners with install guides; rafters or trusses and roof covering noted.

The interconnection panel and its interior label, plus any boxes mounted beside it.

Samples of every label and where each one will be posted.
Roof vents
Every plumbing and mechanical vent shown on the plan.
The rule that trips up layouts: "No solar panel may be installed over the top of a vent. All vents must be relocated by a licensed plumber and/or mechanical contractor." On many roofs, vents sit right where the best row of panels would go, so we map them first and either design around them or arrange the relocation as part of the job. Eagle Mountain has no flat solar fee. The permit is priced from the project's valuation, residential plan review adds 40%, and the state adds a 1% surcharge. Here's how that plays out at three common valuations.

The city works out the actual valuation and emails the fees through its online permit portal after review, which its residential FAQ says typically takes three to seven business days. Add-ons cost less to permit than new systems simply because the valuation is smaller. We pay the fees and include them in our written price.

What Solar Costs in Eagle Mountain This Year
